Lecture by Luke Ogden, d.a.i. Tübingen. California is a state of tremendous diversity and high ideals. Historically being the destination for immigrants of various backgrounds in search of the American Dream, today the so-called Golden State has the largest population in the United States and a very important economy. On the other hand, California is also home to striking economic equality, a budget crisis, racial and ethnictensions, and an overcrowded prison system. Luke Ogden, a native Californian, will discuss the culture, challenges, and contrasts of his home state.
